Grand Finals, they are not played every day or every year (Thanks Covid), while some teams and clubs have never been to the big dance, this week the Polecats will compete in the clubs 58th Grand Final appearance over our 3 grades and 51 year history.
Equally impressive is Dan Jackson, who will coach in his 4th First Grade Grand Final in 4 seasons, with 2 first grade premierships in 2015 and 2017, Dan will be looking to go back-to-back as a coach, all be it 5 years apart.
We could talk stats and history forever with the Polecats, but lets just talk about the match! The Polecats will be heading to Leichhardt to take on Asquith Magpies (Usually its UTS) in the NSWRL Central Northern Conference Silver Division Grand Final and its going to be a huge day with minor premiers the Polecats up against the 2nd place team throughout the season. Both sides have formidable packs and scintillating attack and with the best for and against in the division, it will be a match for the ages.
“We have built all season for this moment. The 2 best teams battling it out in the big dance is exactly how it should finish.
We just need to stick to what we do well!” Dan Jackson Polecats Head Coach.
If the Polecats are to win, it will be built on their defence and throughout the season they showed grit to keep sides to low totals (Except for one match), while Asquith has been equally impressive with defence and through the 3 matches that the Polecats have played against them, the for and against can’t be spilt, all that aside it will be the team that puts it all together today that will be going home with the premiership.
“They say football starts at the front office, well this year we gave ourself every chance with the earliest preseason in Polecat history. Dan and the coaching staff laid the platform and ever since we’ve been placing the pieces together. It’s a strong group of players and I know they will give their best today.” Polecats President Benjamin Carter.
So as the Polecats head into the Grand Final today against a new rival, we thank all our corporate partners, players, family, friends and supporters for the all the amazing support over the season and as the Polecats look to chase its 19th First Grade title and head back to the promised land, we hope to see everyone out at Leichhardt to cheer on the Polecats, but if you can’t then we will keep you up to date with live Grand Final updates at www.polecats.com.au/live or on our socials proudly brought to you by our major sponsor for 2022 Panel Cycle.
