After 10 rounds of the NSW Tertiary Students Rugby League the TAFE NSW Polecats have cruised into next weeks Grand Final after a destructive display against Sydney University at Killara Reserve last Saturday.
Needing a win and 38 points or more to earn the right to defend their premiership in next weeks Grand Final the Polecats start fast, pressing Sydney Uni line before the cracks opened enough for Jesse Fuller to register the Polecats first points in the 9th minute with the conversion thanks to Dylan Kata.
The Polecats continued the pain with Matt Thomas scoring twice in 10 minutes before Jesse Fuller bagged his double in 29th minute and the Polecats were flying at 18 points to nil, before the half time hooter gave Sydney Uni a much needed break from the onslaught.
While Sydney Uni thought they might be able to stop the flow of points, it was only 2 minutes into the half before the Polecats were in again thanks to Marvin Curry. Dylan Kata was the next Polecat to cross with Tori Willie getting the Polecats 2nd conversion of the day, before the pairing swapped roles and Tori scored while Dylan converted and the side had amassed 34 points in 42 minutes.
Another converted try 4 minutes later from Riki Willie and Dylan Kata with the extra’s and Polecats had safe score of 40 points to temporary secure a Grand Final birth. But the Polecats weren’t finished there, as Riki Willie grab his second try for the day, along with another conversion from Dylan Kata and mercy was in sight. The end came for Sydney Uni in the 57th minute when Jamaine Haufano scored his for try of the season and the Polecats clocked 50 points to Sydney Uni’s nil and launched them into 2020 NSW Tertiary Student Rugby League Grand Final.
